Last week, we had the pleasure of holding a guest lecture for the Master Seminar at the Institut für Informatik | Universität Innsbruck titled “Digital Supply Chain Organizations & Industrial IoT.” Thanks for the invite Maximilian Schreieck.
Together with the students, we explored what it really takes to move from traditional, reactive supply chain management to connected, predictive, and execution-driven supply chains.
At numi, our approach to Digital Supply Chains is built around turning planning into daily operational decisions. Key elements we shared:
✅ SKU-level AI forecasting for finished goods, components, and raws; lead time forecasts & out-of-stock predictions ✅ Purchase- and production order creation not based on static ERP parameters. ✅ Synchronized workflows between production, purchasing, and suppliers to automate recurring transactional tasks, like late delivery escalations or continuously updated goods-received dates. ✅ Inventory optimization embedded into daily workflows, continuously improving service level and working capital instead of being treated as a year-end project. ✅ Proactive missing-parts resolution, prioritized by expected revenue impact to protect customer delivery performance. ✅ Connected data through API integrations, enriched with external signals such as Industrial IoT data.
A big thank you to the seminar group and the for the engaged discussion and sharp questions.
